San Pedro de Colalao en Español
This village is one of the first places in making tourist activities at the province and is located at 18 kilometres from Hualinchay.
Around the village you can visit the San Pedro Church, which construction dates around 1895; on the inner side keeps a 300 years old bell carried by jesuits at middle of XVII century.
At the foot’s hill that guards the entrance to the village we found the “Gruta de la Virgen de Lourdes”, replica of the Virgin of the Pirineos (France).
Taking Las Heras Street and driving 5 kms from the commercial centre, the Dr. Carlos Pellegrini Fitozoologic Reserve offers a splendid tour by its marvellous landscape of yungas, also including native animals like pumas, foxes, tapirs and exotic species like toucans, lions, Bengal tigers and flamingos between other.
Archaeological fields aren’t scarce in this zone, because after an hour walking on northeast direction you arrive to “La Piedra Pintada”, standing on a plain surface, it believes that this petroglific has a meaning related to fertility and harvest rituals.
“Tiu Cañada” is located 7 kilometres at southeast from San Pedro, possibly is a native place where was founded a solar calendar made of stones.
